Due to the film's commercial and critical success, a sequel has been put into production. Akshay Kumar and Imran Khan (actor) [24] have been roped in for the sequel of the film titled Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai 2.[25] Kangana Ranaut will play the role of Mandakini.[26] The film is expected to start shooting in January 2012.[24]
